I'm not gonna post a 2025 year in review post on my blog. I just don't feel like doing it and it feels like a chore so I'm not gonna do it.

I use [Pinboard.in](https://pinboard.in/) and I've done so since 2008 (that's my earliest bookmark). I remember landing on Pinboard because something was going on with Delicious. Enshitification, I'm sure. I use it to save bookmarks with hashtags, then search for those hashtags later when I want to find it. It's just really interesting how different the mindsets are today, compared to back then. I remember "cloud first" being a thing people were pushing and talking about. Today everyone is talking about self hosting. All that to say, Firefox allows me to save bookmarks with hashtags. I think I might cancel my subscription to Pinboard. The guy running it is a good person and he's doing it on his own so I like supporting that buttttt do I really need to put my bookmarks on other people's servers?

You know, I really like upvoting and downvoting things, reddit style. I also enjoy reacting with emojis directly on the post. I would like for both to be introduced here please. Make it optional, like quote posting if you must.

Ok y'all I don't really have anywhere else to nerd out about this but I accidentally dropped my [grilling thermometer](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B094N6DZLC) into a bucket of water. Today, I'm smoking some ribs because a friend and I are going to watch the Army/Navy game and it's obvious that my thermometer is not working correctly. Instead of buying another, I have decided to roll my own using Apollo Automation [TEMP-1 Temperature Sensor](https://apolloautomation.com/products/temp-1) with three food probes connected via dallas indexing and #HomeAssistant. The goal is to have a dashboard so once I get the smoker temp dialed in, I can monitor stuff from the sofa. Plus, I can setup TTS notifications and such. I'll report back when I have everything connected.
