How to set the open and close limits on Aqara E1 curtain driver
I recently got my hands on a couple of Aqara E1 curtain drivers, and since I use Home Assistant, I skipped buying the Aqara hub. Instead, I had to figure out how to set the open and close limits manually, using the buttons on the device, rather than through the Aqara app.
The process turned out to be trickier than I expected because the instructions weren’t super clear. After spending some time experimenting and reading through this helpful forum post, I finally got it working. Now, I want to save you (and future me) some time by walking you through the steps I used.
My Setup
I’m using ZHA for integration, and I’ve mounted both curtain drivers with the buttons facing outward.
How to Set the Open and Close Limits on the Aqara E1
Follow these simple steps to get your curtains moving smoothly:
- Reset the previous limits: Click the button 5 times rapidly. This clears any previous settings.
- Close the curtain: Move the curtain to the fully closed position.
- Set the closed position: Click the button 3 times quickly to lock in this position.
- Open the curtain: Move the curtain to the fully open position.
- Set the open position: Click the button 3 times quickly again. Now, both limits are set!
And that's it!
If everything worked, your Aqara E1 should now open and close to the positions you just set. If you run into any issues or the limits don’t seem to stick, feel free to reach out or drop a comment below. I’m happy to help troubleshoot!
